Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have reported over 120 rockets have been fired from Gaza into Israel since Saturday, November 10 and that “Rocket fire on southern Israel continued into Monday morning, with three houses suffering direct hits -in Sderot, Netivot and one in the Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council. There were no reports of injuries in those incidents, but the rockets damaged the houses.
“In response to the rocket fire at Israel, IAF aircraft targeted, overnight, a terror tunnel and a weapon storage facility in the northern Gaza Strip, as well as a launching site in the southern Gaza Strip. Direct hits were confirmed.”
The IDF have stated that they “will not tolerate any attempt to harm Israeli civilians, and will operate against anyone who uses terror against the State of Israel. The Hamas terror organization is solely responsible for any terrorist activity emanating from the Gaza Strip.”
The Gulf Times, Qatar report: “After not openly taking part in Saturday’s fighting, which included the firing of dozens of Palestinian short-range rockets and mortar bombs, Hamas issued a joint statement with five other factions claiming responsibility for yesterday’s fresh salvos.
“Four Israelis were wounded by rockets yesterday, a military spokeswoman said. Southern Israeli municipalities ordered residents to shelters and shuttered some schools.
“Islamic Jihad, a smaller faction than Hamas which often operates independently, said one rocket crewman was killed by an Israeli air strike yesterday, after another member was killed on Saturday while photographing the fighting.”
“The Israeli government is responsible for all the consequences and implications of its escalation,” said Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum. “Hamas will not let Palestinian blood be a price for Israeli political and electoral gains,” Lebanon’s The Daily Star reported on Monday morning, November 12.
