Golden Dawn parliamentarian becomes a member of the Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
Golden Dawn is a Greek neo-Nazi political organisation that won 18 seats in the June parliamentary election. GR Reporter, the English language media outlet based in Greece has reported that, “One out of two police officers in Greece voted for Golden Dawn, according to polls conducted in specialized polling stations after 17 June. Police representatives commented that the pressing problems with illegal immigration and the crime it brings are the reasons for police officers to support the neo-Nazi movement… police administration and representatives of the Ministry of Citizens Protection defined this phenomenon as extremely disturbing.”
To extend a hand to the Greek diaspora, Golden Dawn recently established an office in New York City and also in Melbourne, Australia.
Last week JTA news agency reported that “Golden Dawn party member and lawmaker Eleni Zaroulia [wife of party chairman Nikolaos Michaloliakos] became a member of the Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Abraham Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League, called the move ‘an affront to concepts of equality and non-discrimination.’ He added, ‘The despicable ideology of Golden Dawn stands in the most stark contrast imaginable to the goals of the committee.’ The body, which is based in Strasbourg, is comprised of members from 47 European nations. It was established to promote democracy, and to protect human rights and the rule of law in Europe. ‘Given the party’s rhetoric, it is an affront to concepts of equality and non-discrimination that one of its representatives now serves as a member on this Committee,’ Foxman said.
The next meeting of the Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination takes place in Paris on December 3. By all accounts, if the Council of Europe doesn’t resolve this despicable issue prior to the meeting, Paris will, in all likelihood, have its hands full.

From: nicanora (California) –That photograph that you selected to show is misleading. It was something done as a costume joke against the visit of Merkel. Those guys on the picture have nothing to do with Golden Dawn. If anything, all those around them were mostly leftists who also decided to burn a few flags wearing swastikas. So, please, respect the intelligence of your readers and don’t feed them with twisted facts.
Ed. Comment– To quote Plato: “Wise men speak because they have something to say; fools because they have to say something.” We make no difference between the intelligence of looney leftists dressed in Nazi uniforms, burning flags and those of the far right.
