The Class of 2011
JUNE 28, 2011 – Anti-Zionist Rabbi Weiss (photo left) praised religious freedom in Iran at the recent anti-terrorism conference held in Teheran. Along with Canadian Rabbi Yeshaye Rosenberg, Weiss attended the conference, despite it taking place on Shabbat.
“Iran under the leadership of Ayatollah Khamenei is the sole country in the world that differentiates between Zionism and Jewish thoughts and treat its Jewish community properly,” Weiss remarked.
He added that Zionism as an ideology underlying the Israeli government is like a “cancerous tumour” which has afflicted not only the region, but also the Jewish community. Weiss further said that he is in Tehran to declare Israel as the real symbol of state-sponsored terrorism and blasted the massacre of the innocent people by the Zionist regime of Israel, and added that the move is against the teachings of the holy Torah.
Also attending the two-day event with Weiss and Ahmadinejad included the heads of states from Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Sudan’s Omar al-Bashir, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court on charges of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity over his government’s scorched earth tactics in the eight-year-old conflict in Darfur.
The conference reportedly was attended by senior officials from some 60 countries and representatives of “international organizations including the U.N.”
The United States and Israel repeatedly were attacked and Iran’s President Ahmadinejad reprised his 9/11 conspiracy claims. Addressing the conference on Saturday, Ahmadinejad revisited the sentiments he expressed at the U.N. General Assembly last September, stating that “the real truth [about the 9/11 terror attacks] has been kept from the Americans and the world.”
“Some believe that the motive behind the September 11 attacks was to ensure the safety of Zionist regime, foment insecurity in regional countries, divert the U.S. public opinion from the chaotic economic situation in the country and fill the pockets of uncivilized belligerent capitalists,” he told the Tehran gathering.
American and Israeli responsibility for terrorism were themes running through many of the speeches delivered at the conference, from the opening address by supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to the closing speech by Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi.
Khamenei accused Israel of “shamelessly and openly” carrying out terrorist acts and the U.S. of “a long list of terrorist behaviours by financing and arming terrorist organizations in the region.”
