The dawning of a new age for America: Welcome to Sharia Law!
By Alan Simons
JULY 22, 2009 – For the past two years, jewishinfoNews has been reporting on the activities of one of the most blatant antisemitic organisations allowed to flourish in many democratic nations. This past Sunday, at a conference held n Chicago, the United States finally awoke to hearing first-hand what the extremist group Hizb ut-Tahrir also wants for America. Sharia law in place of the U.S. Constitution.
Plainly put, this radical organisation, which is in favour of the destruction of Israel, as well as the killing of Jews, is banned in many countries around the world including Germany, Russia, and some Central Asia and Middle East nations. It has grown into a multinational, active in 40 countries.
In a report published last year by Islam in Europe, the Dutch security service AIVD said:
The movement [Hizb ut-Tahrir] operates exceptionally secretly and has a cell structure with an almost military hierarchy. The ideology is characterized by virulent anti-Zionism, and intense aversion to secular governments and ideologies, the complete shunning of those who believe differently and prescribing a confrontational and strongly polarizing message.
In the UK, the Sunday Times reported a number of years ago:
The National Union of Students called on universities to ban Hizb ut-Tahrir from campuses, accusing the party of “supporting terrorism and publishing material that incites racial hatred”. An undercover Sunday Times investigation has established that the party, Hizb ut-Tahrir, has been recruiting under the name Stop Islamophobia at University College London (UCL), the School of African and Oriental Studies, Luton University and other institutions.
Hizb ut-Tahrir wants to establish a transnational state governed by Islamic law. It is reported to have thousands of members in Britain. One member said suicide bombers in Israel would go “straight to heaven”.
It was formerly led in Britain by Omar Bakri Mohammed, the radical preacher who referred to the September 11 hijackers as the “Magnificent 19”. Bakri left the party in 1996 and went on to set up Al-Muhajiroun, which is also facing proscription.
According to Reuters, “China says Hizb ut-Tahrir are terrorists operating in the far western region of Xinjiang, home to some 8 million Muslims.”
As Wojciech Grabowski of the Department of International Relations at the University of Gdansk stated in a recently published paper: Hizb ut-Tahrir is in opposition to capitalism, democracy, Zionism (all dialogue with other religions is forbidden) and to the West. He says every element of the organisation’s ideology has two sides: radical and liberal, peaceful and armed.
Here’s some of what IPT (Investigative Project on Terrorism) had to say about this past Sunday’s conference in Chicago:
The conference was sometimes poorly organized. There was no list of speakers, forcing reporters to sometimes guess at the spelling of speakers’ names. But HT certainly appeared to be serious about working for the larger goals of the conference: abolishing capitalism and imposing Caliphate rule over the world.
According to Hizb ut-Tahrir, the world’s social and economic problems will not be fixed until the world is governed by Shariah and the government controls all major industries. Lenders would no longer be able to charge interest, which one speaker decried as a “poisonous concept.” Charity, or zakat, was advertised as the way to alleviate “economic inequality.”
But time and again on Sunday, Hizb ut-Tahrir officials seemed to be playing slippery rhetorical games of their own – particularly when it came to the behavior of despotic Muslim regimes and terrorists. When a few sceptical audience members pressed speakers over the fact that Islamic governments in Iran and Saudi Arabia are despotic, conference speakers claimed those weren’t “authentic” Muslim governments and that the CIA (and by implication, the capitalist U.S. government) was to blame for the problems in those countries. In an interview with WBBM-TV in Chicago, HT deputy spokesman Mohammad Malkawi refused to specifically condemn Al Qaida and the Taliban.
A speaker identified by conference organizers as Imam Jaleel Abdul Adil said that “if they offer us the sun, or the moon, or a nice raise, or a passport, or a house in the suburbs or even a place to pray at the job, on the condition that we stop calling for Islam as a complete way of life – we should never do that, ever do that – unless and until Islam becomes victorious or we die in the attempt.” (To see the clip, click here.)
While Hizb ut-Tahrir’s controversial message attracted demonstrators and some media attention, the group at least is open about its ambitions. It not only is determined to destroy capitalism — it would shred the United States Constitution as well in favor of Shariah law.
